Jeremy and Alyssa, two Culver Alumnae, met at a Culver Academies Reunion. They didn’t attend the school at the same time, but as two of the only youngsters at the reunion, they found companionship easily. These two are a perfect match in every way: in humor, in tenacity, in even temperament, in love of family. There’s so much about them that jives flawlessly. After ages of dating long distance, they are finally living in the same place, and this past weekend they became husband and wife. This couple has displayed so much determination and resolve in their lives, that I’m over the moon happy for them to finally see so many of their dreams come to fruition.

They married on Culver campus with a full Catholic Mass and then had their reception in Rochester at the Moose Lodge. Jeremy and Alyssa made it clear that their priorities were simple. They wanted to be with all of the people they love and they wanted those people to have fun and memorable. That meant their priorities were photos, a band, and good catering. They pulled off their plan beautifully. The day was smooth, fun, and all of their guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If I were to describe this couple in one word, it would be joyful. That joy was truly contagious on their wedding day.

For the wedding, Alyssa wore her late mother’s sapphire ring on her right hand, and she borrowed her older sister’s wedding dress. She took care of the traditional old, borrowed, and blue all very quickly and easily.

Alyssa’s bridal look was so simple, elegant, and classic. I love how she made it all look so effortless! Alyssa, you’re gorgeous! Gorgeous!!

Jeremy and both of his groomsmen are all in the military. Shooting photos of two Air Force Captains and an Army Staff Sergeant meant that I was called “Ma’am” more times in a single day than I’ve ever been in my life.

Tyler was SO proud of himself for photobombing Andrew and Jeremy, that I really felt like this photo needed to be included in the blog. What you might not be able to tell from this photo is that Tyler is dancing around and doing some pretty fancy hip movements.

Alyssa’s nephew Jimmy was a ridiculously adorable ring bearer… who got a little bit of stage fright. I love that he tried to hide in mom’s skirt.

That smile he wears when he looks at her… Lord, have mercy!

The couple did THREE unique things for their exit all at once! They had paper airplanes that were a great nod to the Air Force, little wands with bells, AND some Culver cadets came and did a Saber Arch.

All three speeches were superb! They were funny, warm, sweet, silly. I loved how much thought each person put into what they wanted to say.

 

Alyssa’s habit of throwing her head back and belly laughing is one of my favorite things about her. Her dad and her husband are both experts at making that laugh erupt.

Jeremy’s sweet mother spent the day wiping away happy tears. I think I saw tears at least three times, when she first saw him, during the ceremony, and during their dance. She obviously adores her boy.

As soon as the formal dances were over, the MacDaddys took the stage and did their expert covers of songs from all genres and decades. I was especially shocked and impressed by how adeptly they covered Sublime.

As the sun disappeared, the couple stepped outside with me for a few images with that twilight glow. My goodness, it was a perfect night for it! These images are some of my favorites from the day.

Jeremy and Alyssa, congratulations! It was an honor to celebrate with you. Especially since you’re people who really know how to celebrate. I wish you decades of happiness, companionship, and connection. I’d tell you to take good care of each other, but I already know you will.
