Dennis & Danielle: Lockport Indiana Wedding

What happens when one third-culture kid meets another? They fall in love, of course! She has moved 18 times in less than 30 years. He’s lived in Iceland, Japan, and the Philippines. They met at Grace College and were in the same friend group, and they’ve been friends for 10 years now. The couple began to really connect through deep conversations. When she moved to China they kept in touch. One super unique fact about this couple is that they have only dated long-distance! The entirety of their relationship has been on opposite sides of the world, but that distance has revealed that they bring out the best in each other. 

Danielle is a 3rd-grade teacher, Dennis is a therapist, and as of Saturday… they’re married! They are the third couple in Danielle’s family to get married in the Lockport Church. They DIY’d much of the wedding and it had a sweetly traditional feel. It’s easier to show you than to tell you, so keep scrolling!

Little Stormie had an understandable and age-appropriate short tolerance for photos, so when she needed a break she’d simply head to her mother for more snacks and snuggles.

When it was time for photos of the couple there was a very obvious rainstorm rolling in. We rushed and got some photos of the couple with the menacing clouds behind them.

As it started to sprinkle, we ducked inside for a few portraits in the spot where Danielle’s parents and brother also posed for photos at their weddings.

After family photos, most of the rain had let up, so we went out for a couple of romantic shots in the rain.

After dinner the best man and matron of honor gave speeches.


You may recognize Derek and Michelle. I had the honor of shooting their wedding back in 2016. Danielle was a bridesmaid for Michelle, and Michelle was a bridesmaid for Danielle!

After dinner, toasts, cake, and the shoe game, Dennis and Danielle had a little time to mingle with guests outdoors and then they left in a cloud of bubbles.


Congratulations, Dennis and Danielle! Your road to getting married was much bumpier than most of my COVID Couples this year. I’m so glad that everything finally worked out for you and that you were able to celebrate in style. Thanks for asking me to be part of your celebration. It was an honor!
