Andy and Brooke are a sweet, fun, low key couple. As Andy describes them, “there are no divas here”. He’s right. These two are cool, warm, hospitible, and I cannot imagine one without the other. Andy and Brooke will be getting married in October at Culver Academy. As proud residents of the city of Chicago, they sheepishly asked if I’d be willing to travel to them for their engagement photos. I very enthusiastically agreed, because the city is one of my favorite places to shoot. I explained to the couple that the best time for photos is either near sunrise or sunset when the light is softest. To my surprise, they chose sunrise! This couple was so committed to good light for their photos, while avoiding the crowds of people, that they got up SUPER early on a much needed day off to make these photos happen, and for that, I am extremely grateful. (Thanks to a couple cups of coffee…) They looked stylish and graceful even at the crack of dawn. It was so worth it for beautiful softly lit views of the city with hardly a soul around us aside from an occasional runner.

The couple’s dog, Patsy, was a dream for photos. They thought she was being a little difficult, but take it from someone who’s worked with a lot of dogs and toddlers… Patsy was awesome!

Andy and Brooke, Congratuations! You are a couple that just makes sense. It’s obvious to me why you two like each other. Your partnership and support of each other is obvious. Thanks so much for so consistantly offering me water and carrying my gear, while laughing and sharing with me. I can’t wait to be part of your wedding!
