Josh and Claire met in college when they were both students at Valparaiso University.  They met the first day of freshman year. Claire was invited to visit Josh’s roommate and funnily when she walked into Josh’s room and he wasn’t ready to be seen. If I understand the story correctly he was still wearing boxers or pajamas. Awkward introductions aside, the two quickly became best friends and remained friends for two years. They used to joke about dating… and then it wasn’t a joke anymore. They realized they couldn’t imagine life apart. Since then, their relationship has weathered long distance as Josh spent time in China. They moved to Washington D.C. where Josh trains diplomats preparing to work in consulates overseas and Claire works in communications and marketing for a real estate company. 

I met the couple over Memorial Day weekend as they jetted to Indiana for some wedding prep over the long weekend. Claire went to Culver Academy and Josh worked at the Culver Woodcraft Camp over the summers when he was in college. They’ll be getting married there, a place where they both have fond memories, next Fall. The weather the night of their shoot was perfect! We strolled around the campus and basked in the beautiful light as sunset approached. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.

The light was AWESOME! When I mentioned to the couple how late in the evening I wanted to start their session, I could sense their apprehension, but they trusted me and went with it. I’m really thankful that they did. It was SO worth it! The light was perfect!! I love this warm glowy goodness!

As the sun started to sink below the horizon, the sky started to show more and more brilliant colors. It was gorgeous!
