On Sunday night, I had the fortune of enjoying a beautiful evening and a perfect sunset with Ben and Anna. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the couple equally stunning. I know that this evening was about creating memories for this couple, not for me… but this shoot is one that will remain in my memory for a long time. I was just struck by the way the couple interacted with each other. Not just with each other, but also with Anna’s daughter Annemarie. Ben and Anna are a great fit for each other. One of my favorite parts of the whole session was when Anna, who was a little nervous about the photos, was a little tense and I overheard Ben so sweetly ask her if there was anything he could do to help her have more fun and enjoy herself. You guys… Ben’s a good one! Observant, caring, helpful, inquisitive… and guys like him are only interested in one kind of girl. If I could describe Anna in one word it would be quality. I really enjoy being around people who are in love. This couple is exactly the kind of couple that I love to work with. They’re deeply in love. They understand love. They put each other first. They’re just plain awesome!

Ben and Anna are both alumni of Culver Academy: Anna of summer school and Ben of winter school. They met for the first time 10 years ago, but have only been dating for the past nine months. Some couples know they’re right for each other after only a couple of months of dating. Since my husband and I are one of “those couples”… I’m very partial to other couples like us: the confident ones that know what they want!

Ben and Anna are blessed to live full time in Culver on Lake Maxinkuckee. There’s hardly a place in Indiana that is more picturesque. We began the session at Anna’s family cottage on the south shore of the lake, the exact location of Ben’s proposal and the couple’s immediate engagement party that happened minutes after said proposal. Because Ben is on staff at the Academy, we were able to take advantage of the gorgeous school grounds for the photos. In case you’re not familiar with Culver Academy… it’s pretty much Hogwarts of the midwest. The campus is breathtaking! I love that we were able to use locations that are not just pretty, but also sentimental for Ben and Anna.

I already said this on Instagram, but please forgive me while I repeat myself… Ben and Anna look like Prince William and Princess Kate. Anna’s classy, creamy, dreamy lace dress looks so sophisticated. She just needs a crown to go with it!

Many years in a row, Anna attended Culver Academy’s six-week summer nautical program. Needless to say… girlfriend can handle watercraft. I was impressed with her ease and knowledge. The couple’s shared love of boating made these photos so much fun.

This chapel is the place where Ben and Anna will say their vows in a few months. As the sun set, the light was streaming from one side of the building through to create this pretty warm glow on the shaded side. I can’t wait to see the inside of this amazing building!!!
