We’ve all been subject to the cruel 1-10 rating system at some point in our lives. I’m sometimes painfully aware that my husband is a 9 and I’m about a 5. It’s not self deprecation. It’s the truth. He is WAY better looking than I am or will ever be. I married up. It’s ok though. You see, I have compensating assets. I’m funny, I’m entertaining, I have a way of weaseling my way into hearts. People sometimes literally like me against their will. (And I’m not overusing the word literally here like the Kardashians do.) I know that he’s much better looking than I, because things like this always happen to him… Teen girl walks up to him holding a Smart Phone and brandishes a photo of a celebrity. (giggle, giggle, twitter) “Um…. has anyone ever told you that you look like HIM?” (blush, giggle, smirk, run away) My bewildered husband always stands there with absolutely ZERO idea how to respond to this. I on the other hand have teen boys ask me if I’ve ever considered growing more hair. True story. More than once. More than twice!
Over the last couple of years, I’ve heard David’s looks compared to many celebrities. For example, when I worked in the IT department at Grace College the Korean students always looked at a particular photo of David on my desk and would say, “This husband? Very handsome! Look like Brad Pitt!” Every time, I’d have to fight back a huge fit of snorts and chuckles. Some of the giggles are because the name Brad Pitt is funny with the accent. The rest of the giggles are because I assume that Koreans immediately compare him to Brad Pitt because Brad’s always over in their area of the globe picking up a new kid and whatnot, so they’re more familiar with him than with other white celebrities.
But then other comparisons start rolling in. Recently Jake Gyllenhaal has made he list along with (according to Dave) “Some lead singer of a band I’ve never heard of…” He says it with such distain. Meanwhile I’m thinking… Oh, poor baby, are you so ridiculously good looking that you’re compared to other ridiculously good looking people??? Life must be so HARD for you!
SO… today, I’d like you to help me settle this once and for all. Mostly because I want to torment my husband, but a little because I know you all would think this is fun too. So tell me… Which celebrity do YOU think David looks like?
I couldn’t find a digital copy of THEEE Brad Pitt photo that used to sit on my desk, but here are a few other photos of my husband as a good starting point for comparison:

And here are a few of the celebrities: (David Beckham, Brad Pitt, and Jake Gyllenhaal)

And not to sway your opinions or anything, but here’s Dave’s personal favorite: (Ewan McGregor)

(I wasn’t able to track down a photo of Mr. Lead-singer-of-a-band-he’s-never-heard-of but I’m going to pretend Dave’s never heard of Coldplay, Maroon 5, or 30 Seconds to Mars)
{The images below are just to save you from googling, not part of any actual comparisons}

Let the voting frivolity begin!
Happy Friday everybody!
I’d personally go with more of a mash-up between Becks and Jake Gyllenhaal. Of course, when wearing the knit cap, he looks more like Christian Kane. FTW. (Extra love for the argyle and coffee cup picture though. Because the combination is awesome.)
Ewan McGregor, though, is awesome.

let’s stop talking about Dave, and just look at that picture of Ewan. oh man…
I vote Ewan or the dude from Maroon 5. And when I read, “ridiculously good looking,” I heard it in Zoolander’s voice.
I say some features of David Beckham and some of Jake Gyllenhaal…
[…] If you have followed my blog for about a year, you may remember when I posted last July about a burst of embarrassing (in his opinion) comparisons between the way my husband looks and some pretty high profile celebrities. You can read ALL about it here. […]
[…] People notice. If you’d like to catch up on all that nonsense, you can see the first post here. And the second post is […]
I feel like this post puts people in an awkward position. I recommend you take it down. I also feel like posting pictures of your ridiculously good-looking husband may cause others to stumble.
If I was forced to vote, I’d say Ewan McGregor, but it’s mostly because I like the accent… and the superb acting as Obi Wan.
Grant is a Scottish name, right? Can your husband speak with an awesome accent?
