He’s been gone more in the month of June than he’s actually been home. Much more, actually. Sad, but true. My husband has been traveling all over the place! He’s been to Chicago, Dallas, Columbus, Cincinnati, Atlanta… and I’m probably forgetting a city or two… Since it’s the height of my busy season, I’ve been home slaving away taking photos. I miss him. I’ve been blown away thinking, “I don’t know how I’d do it without him!” My house is a wreck. I’ve had to do all of the awful chores that he normally does, like cleaning up dog poo and taking out the trash. I’ve been eating horrible food, because it’s just not worth it to cook for one. I’ve been reminded SO much of why I love to shoot weddings, because I’ve been reflecting on how much my life was completely changed by this man. He’s home to me. Even though he’s the one that’s been traveling, and I’m the one that’s been home… I feel displaced. I even feel like I’ve seen him so little that I’m actually starting to forget what he looks like!
If you have followed my blog for about a year, you may remember when I posted last July about a burst of embarrassing (in his opinion) comparisons between the way my husband looks and some pretty high profile celebrities. You can read ALL about it here.
Just to remind you, and to remind myself a little as well, this is what David looks like:

You can admit it… he’s easy on the eyes.
Lately there has been a new rash of celebrity comparisons. For example, I got this text from him the other day:

It’s pretty amusing, no? Let’s look at Chris Evans/Captain America to compare, shall we?

I also was able to figure out who the “lead singer of the band David’s never heard” of is. (see this post for that story) I figured it out when someone else made the exact same comparison. Here’s Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum. (I should have known. He never listens to country.)

And a name that kept coming up when I made the very first post about this was Matt Damon.

But the one that tops them all in my book is this one. (Brace yourselves… you’re about to be overwhelmed by the handsome.)
RYAN GOSLING! The man that everyone woman wants and every man wants to be. The man that can make having an imaginary doll friend seem cool. The man that can make a stinking white satin jacket seem like a desirable item of clothing. The man who “looks photoshopped” in real life. Is there anyone cooler on the planet right now than Ryan-freaking-Gosling? I think not! I mean… he’s allowed to “Hey Girl” me any time!

Pardon me, I need to pull myself together…
AAAAAAAAAND we’re back!
So, to recap:
Admittedly, all of those celebrities are gorgeous men. All of them are people that others long to be like, that they want to emulate. Here’s the thing though… none of them are David. None of them are sacrificing their entire month of June to leave their dogs, their wife, their creature comforts and to go fight for the lives of young victims of sex trafficking. David IS!
Have you ever known a couple that got divorced because their spouse “wasn’t the same person they married”? As he’s been away this month, I’ve been thinking a lot about how David’s not the same man I married. I’m not upset about that though. He’s better! God has taken ahold of his heart and completely changed him. He has a passion for the needy, the lost, the ones with no voice who need an advocate. Not even Ryan-cooler-than-life-Gosling can say that.
SO… if you pity me at all for missing my husband…
if you think he looks like one of the celebrities above…
if you think that being good is hotter than being cute…
I have a couple of favors to ask of you.
Hey Girl, I don’t think David looks like Ryan Gosling. I do think he looks like the guy from the mysterious country band, though, minus the showing of excessive amounts of chest hair.
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: hortio sans!!
how am i the only one seeing this?!
lol
love you guys!
Got to admit, The looks are in the gene pool but he does them soooooo good. And the character development is God, you, David and a host of other friends and family. I agree, he is a special person and he is married to a very talented special person. luv ya
[…] On two former occasions, I’ve made light of how my husband, my wonderful long-suffering husband, is constantly compared to celebrities. He’s a good looking guy. People notice. If you’d like to catch up on all that nonsense, you can see the first post here. And the second post is here. […]
Ewan is my vote 😉
